China Seeks Strengthening Cooperation with Singapore

(MENAFN) China is keen to enhance its mutually beneficial partnership with Singapore, according to Premier Li Qiang, who arrived in the city-state for a two-day official visit on Saturday, as reported by a state-run news agency.

"Over the 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relations between the two countries have maintained a good momentum for development, with deepened political mutual trust, fruitful practical cooperation and closer people-to-people exchanges, setting a model for mutual learning and win-win cooperation between countries," Li remarked.

Li highlighted the significant advancements in Sino-Singaporean relations in recent years, emphasizing China's commitment to working with Singapore to synchronize their development plans, expand mutual cooperation, advance joint modernization initiatives, and contribute to promoting "true multilateralism and common development in the region."

The Premier is expected to meet Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, where they will exchange memorandums and agreements covering green development, the digital economy, and workforce training, as stated by Singapore’s Foreign Ministry.

On Sunday, Li will also have a meeting with Singapore’s acting president, Eddie Teo.
This marks the first visit to Singapore by a Chinese premier in seven years.
